The research indicates that the more sodium an individual consumes on a daily basis, the greater their likelihood of experiencing a new onset of heart failure. Heart failure is a chronic condition where the heart muscle cannot pump blood as well as it should. This can lead to symptoms such as shortness of breath, fatigue, and swelling in the legs and feet.
